La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) It’s too bad the season is likely ending for UW-La Crosse this Saturday.
They’ve played their best football of the season over the last six games.
UW-L travels to Stevens Point, a team they’ve beaten the last two seasons, scoring 63 on the Pointers last year.
The Eagles are still entertaining the slimmest of slim chances to make the playoffs.
Realistically, they know this will be their final game together and sending the seniors out the right way is priority.
“This is a cool group because it’s a lot of guys I recruited to come in. There are some guys that decided to come before we named a head coach. There are some transfers and there are some guys who were here before I got here. That whole collaboration of guys is a group of guys that bought into what we’re trying to do here and really changed the culture, changed everything here and changed the direction of the program because they bought in and believed in what we were doing,” said head coach Mike Schmidt.
