Here's how much a Texas-style Thanksgiving dinner will cost this year - mySA

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner is 48 cents cheaper this year, coming in at $48.01 for 10 people, according to the Texas Farm Bureau, which has tracked prices since 2009.

Nearly 40 volunteers logged prices at grocery stores statewide Nov. 1-8 for the Thanksgiving Meal Report.

Shoppers found that a 16-pound turkey rang up at $19.36, which is a little cheaper than it was last year — but the bird cost only $17.76 in 2017. The price of frozen green beans also dropped some, but the best savings were found in a 16-ounce package of pecans, which cost 14 percent less this year.

More expensive this year was a package of brown-and-serve rolls and 3 pounds of fresh sweet potatoes, which spiked about 20 percent from $3.03 to $3.66. Prices were also higher for jellied cranberry sauce, stuffing, whipping cream, whole milk and frozen pie shells.
